well.... the raw materials, that is. stopped by my buddy Chris' place for some scrap metal. 14 ga steel for the seat pan and 1/8" aluminium (for you Brits) for the rear deck. let's see what kinda trouble i'll get into trying to shape this into a functional and 'stylish' piece of KZ. oooofa
slow progress on the KZ. a lovely pair of (110/90-19 front and 110/90-18 rear) Bridgestone Spitfires are just what i needed next to get a clue on the stance and how to proceed. forgot how tough tubless tires on mags were without a bead breaker. no problem! the trusty vice and a couple pieces of oak flooring did the trick but, those bead locks are murder! and, the tools of the trade for mounting.
next up, i can finally get the seat and rear deck completed. then, it's on to fabricating the custom peg mounts.
friend and fellow EDR06 and EDR07 rider Brooks Manbeck doing what he likes best, riding his Moto Guzzi and shooting film. these two were taken at the same moment somewhere on the Anza-Borrego desert floor in 2006.
couple weeks back, i visited the Doc's mc superstore in Waterbury, CT for their 40th anniversary get together. beautiful day, great ride and lot's o' bikes. well, you make the call on the subjects...
Here's a couple shots of my father-in-law's 1947 Chief. before you go gettin' worked up, yes, that's a '53 front fender. with 74" displacement and 3 speed trans, this bike's a strong runner. enjoy.
